What Does Daily Living Support Cover?
Daily living support covers a wide range of tasks depending on your needs and what is in your plan. The most common supports include:
Personal care: Help with showering, dressing, grooming, and other daily routines. This support is delivered with dignity and respect, at the times that work for your routine.
Meal preparation: Planning and preparing nutritious meals. For people living alone or with limited mobility, regular meal support makes a genuine difference to health and wellbeing.
Household tasks: Cleaning, laundry, tidying, and keeping your home safe. A well maintained home is not just comfortable, it is safer and better for your independence.
Community access: Getting out of the house to appointments, activities, shopping, or social outings in Ballina, Lismore, and the broader Northern Rivers. Staying connected to your community matters.
Overnight and complex support: For participants with higher needs, daily living support can include overnight assistance or more complex personal care delivered by trained support workers.
How Much Daily Living Support Can I Get?
The amount of daily living support in your plan depends on your individual assessment and the goals you’ve set with your planner. Your support is funded from the Core Supports budget in your NDIS plan.
If you feel your current plan doesn’t reflect your actual daily needs, you can request a plan review. Speak with your support coordinator or contact the NDIA on 1800 800 110.
How Do I Use My Daily Living Support Funding?
Once your plan is approved, you choose a registered NDIS provider to deliver your supports. You are in control of who you work with and how your supports are scheduled.
If you are NDIA-managed or plan-managed, your provider claims from your Core Supports budget. If you are self-managed, you pay your provider directly and claim reimbursement from the NDIA.
